Please don't get me started now. Almost everyone on this forum lurks because of self interest. If one has to do public service , I would join a organization like CRY etc.
Regarding yourself, you lurk on this forum to show you are better than others now that you have your "citizenship". I doubt you have contributed even a single cent to the cause or written any letter or contacted any lawmaker. And I don't blame you because you have no reason to do that.

Oh really!! How did you come to that conclusion? Could you be kind enough to show me any of my post that remotely suggests that? BTW, I joined this forum 18 months ago and I became US citizen last week.

Here is the response from lawyer when I pointed him to the filing instructions on I-485 form:
"The statutory requirement for employment-based immigration is that an ongoing employer-employee relationship exist at the time the I-485 is filed,
and for a minimum 6 months thereafter. Any particular document used to verify this relationship is only valid for a relatively short period of time, before it becomes stale (i.e. 3-6 months).
At the time of filing your I-485 adjustment of status petition, we included pay stubs to verify the current employer-employee relationship.
If the I-485 is still in process greater than 8 or 9 months from today, Immigration Services is likely to request additional evidence of the employer-employee relationship, in the form of (1) the 2007 W-2 form,
(2) most recent six months of pay stubs, and also (3) a current job offer
letter.
I proceed with the understanding that it is likely that the I-485 petitions will still be pending 8 months from now, and that therefore it is also likely that USCIS will require additional pay stubs, etc. verifying the employer-employee relationship."
Generally speaking two recent pay stubs are sufficient to verify that you remain with the same employer. It is possible that if your petition is pending for more than 10 or 12 months, either a job offer letter or additional pay stubs will be requested.

This is my first post here. Even though I've been a member for sometime, I wasn't even aware of these forums. When the July VB fiasco happened, I stumbled upon these forums and I was glued throughout the entire saga. U know what, IV was the only one who gave me any kind of HOPE. I am so thankful for what the IV core has done for us.
Its a shame that we all sit quietly and let someone else pay for our problems. After all, most of us have decent paying jobs here. So I too will pledge $ 100 and I am also going to contribute twds IV's cause.........
I hope more ppl will come forward and do the same.
Yes you are correct. We all have decent paying jobs and $100 is nothing compared to $64000. I hope more folks like you join this humble cause. Can the spread sheet be updated and posted again so that we can track it.

As you have efiled your EAD the FP you have received might not necessarily mean the FP for 485, it could be just for EAD. Gurus any comment!!
I am a July 2nd Filer, and have not gone through FP till now.
I e filed on 11th May for EAD /AP renewal for myself and spouse.
LUD on 14 th May. Receipt notices received 16 th may.
Got FP notice only for myself on 19 th May.
(Still waiting for spouse's FP notice)

Does anybody know how long one can stay out of Canada after landing? I heard some where its 2 years and some say its 3 years from the date you land.
And that time does not have to be continous. You can do cycle of 6 months in Canada 1 year outside outside and it will still count to 2 years by end of 5 years, or you can do just last 2 years of those 5 years.

Last year we ran a High Five Campaign and collected $4883 over a period of 4 months. It was a disappointment.
Now as we know the environment is very volatile and lot of things are going against LEGAL Immigrants i.e US (TARP Employer H-1B Restriction Bill (Sanders Bill)), i will like to request everyone to contribute as much as they can. I will like you to contribute a minimum of $20 dollars.
ALL you need to do is write out a $20 cheque and send it to IV on the address listed.

Let me first of all thank you for taking a strong stand for your highly skilled employees at this critical time. I am on an H1b visa and am a certified professional working in this country. I just wanted to ask you a few question. The biotech firms employ a lot of people on H1b visas. How come none of them, excluding Genentech, is included in the compete america group's letter to the congress. I strongly feel and pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, other biotech companies should also be included to stand for the H1b visa and green card issue for their employees. Seccond question I would like to ask is about the provision to renew the H1b in increment of 3 years each after the 6th year, which apparently has been taken off in this new CIR bill. This is a very technical issue and employers would not want to loose the trained employees after the 6th year period. It does not make any sense to refuse renewability of the H1b after 6 years since by that time that employee has already become an asset to the company or this nation. Please make sure to stand for that particular issue. H1b should be renewable in increments of 3 years each if the GC has been filed by the 5th year. Let me thank you for successfully campaigning for increasing the H1b numbers and hopefully this will enable me to move from my present acadamic position (Ast Prof at XXXXXX) to an Industry. Also since Cornyn is the author, other conservatives (hopefully) will not have many issues with it and not many will argue about a bill that has to do with American Competitiveness.
